Introduction to Journalism

Preface

        Journalistic activity actually has been knowing people for a long time ago, is all about activity of dynamic social life, especially in this modern social life. Like in ancient times in Indonesia gift announcements or attention with "pentungan", pentungan is a long bamboo and there is have a hole so can produce a voice, to make a voice from pentungan using a long stick and then hit the pentungan with this.

Definition of Communication

        Communication is the process by which an individual (the communicator) transmits stimuli (usually verbal symbols) to modify the behavior of other individuals (the communicates); Hovland:1953. Wilbur Schram defines communication as: who says what in which channel to whom with what effect?

        Require of communication have 3 elements:

1. Source, the sender of the message
2. The message, the content of the communication process
3. Destination, is the person for whom the source conveys the message through several mediums.
   

Definition of Journalistic

        Journalistic is from two words journal and istik. Journal from France, that's a mean diary and also from Latin, diurna that's a mean is today. Beside that, istik is all about aesthetics.

        Journalistic is a communication activity which is done by broadcasting news or about incidents that happens every day which is actual and factual and given as soon as possible.

Conclusion 

        So, Journalistic is a skill of searching, gathering, processing, compiling, and presenting a piece of news from any incident that happens every time and every day.
